Ryt Bank recently marks its first anniversary with more than 1.5 million customers, reached in twelve months.
The bank was built on a simple conviction: that banking should work the way Malaysians actually live – at any hour, from anywhere, in their own language, in as few steps as possible. Ryt AI is how it delivers that.
Ryt Bank is marking its anniversary this Merdeka month with a series of new experiences, exclusive offers and rewards for the customers who built it, with new drops rolling out throughout August.
One year of building together
In February 2026, the Ryt Bank app became Malaysia’s most downloaded app across both the Apple App Store and Google Play, and ranked first in the finance category.
Customers have turned to Ryt AI more than 10 million times in its first year to handle their everyday banking. Ryt Bank also offers a banking experience across English, Bahasa Melayu and Chinese, reflecting its commitment to building a bank that works for Malaysians, in the ways they live and communicate.
“Nobody had built a bank like this in Malaysia before, and the team that made it happen is Malaysian from top to bottom,” said Wilson Soon, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Ryt Bank. “We’ve put Malaysia on the world map for what’s possible when we rethink what a bank can be. But we couldn’t have done it without 1.5 million Malaysians choosing to make Ryt Bank part of their lives. This month is for them.”
Ryt AI: Pushing the frontier
Ryt AI runs on ILMU, Malaysia’s homegrown sovereign large language model, developed by YTL AI Labs. It is Malaysian-built AI doing Malaysian banking, in production, at scale.
Over the past year it has learned to see, think and do more. Ryt AI reads receipts, images and attachments. It handles several requests inside a single conversation. When a payment runs into trouble, it offers the customer a way through rather than an error message. And it now completes tasks across more of the Ryt Bank app than it could a year ago.
This is AI built to solve real problems, not to sit behind the scenes.
Ryt Groups is the newest of those problems solved, that makes splitting, collecting and settling shared expenses simpler and more immediate.

Whether it’s dinner with friends, a family holiday or household expenses, customers can simply scan a receipt and Ryt AI automatically itemises each purchase, applies SST and service charges where applicable, and calculates exactly what each person owes. Payments can then be settled instantly within the app.
No calculators. No spreadsheets. No more chasing friends for money.
Customers who settle a Ryt Groups expense during the launch period will also receive a foodpanda voucher worth up to RM15.
And if their friends aren’t on Ryt Bank yet, bringing them into the group comes with a reward too. Throughout the anniversary campaign, customers can earn RM100 or a guaranteed RM5 for themselves and their friends with every successful referral, Ryt Bank’s biggest referral reward yet.

What’s next
Ryt Groups is only the beginning.
The celebrations will continue throughout August, with new products, experiences and rewards dropping every week, including the return of Ryt Bank’s Limited Edition Ryt Card and one of the bank’s most requested features.

Together, these launches mark the next chapter of Ryt Bank’s journey, continuing to make banking simpler, smarter and more intuitive through AI.
“Our first year has completely exceeded our expectations and made us realise just how much more there is to do. The incredible response from Malaysians has shown us that there is a real appetite for a different kind of banking experience,” added Wilson. “We’re proud of what we’ve built, but we’re even more excited about what comes next. We’re only getting started.”
