PROTON has officially opened bookings for the All-New PROTON X50 Sport Edition (SE), a special model created to commemorate the sixth anniversary of its best-selling SUV. Based on the flagship variant, the X50 SE introduces 15 exclusive exterior and interior enhancements designed to deliver a more distinctive and aggressive appearance.
Since its initial launch on 27 October 2020, the PROTON X50 has achieved over 177,000 cumulative sales across domestic and export markets. It has consistently held the title of the country’s best-selling B-segment SUV for five consecutive years. Over the past six years, the model has continuously evolved in design, performance, technology, and safety, solidifying its reputation among Malaysian drivers.

A Sportier Identity, Inside and Out
The All-New PROTON X50 SE distinguishes itself with a predominantly black exterior treatment, accented by contrasting red elements that reinforce its athletic stance. Key exterior upgrades include a Black Front Upper Garnish, Black Front Side Port Trim Garnish, Black Lower Bumper Garnish, and Black Rear Side Port Trim Garnish, all paired with Black 18-inch Alloy Wheels.
The vehicle also features dedicated front, side, and rear skirting for a more dynamic profile, while an exclusive Sport Edition emblem completes the exterior identity.
Inside, the sporty theme continues with a black interior highlighted by red stitching on the steering wheel and seats. The front seats feature Sport Edition embroidery, and the floor is lined with Sport Edition detailing and TPE floor mats. These mats are lightweight, flexible, and quick-drying, making them practical for Malaysia’s rainy and humid climate.

The X50 SE’s enhancements are not just visual; they are engineered to withstand the demands of everyday use in Malaysia. The components have undergone rigorous validation, including over 13,700 hours of testing for durability, corrosion, and UV resistance. This extensive testing ensures the vehicle is suitable for Malaysia’s tropical weather and prolonged driving conditions, reflecting PROTON’s commitment to long-lasting quality.
Built on a Proven Foundation
Under the hood, the All-New PROTON X50 SE retains the flagship’s core strengths. It is powered by PROTON’s i-GT 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, paired with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). This powertrain delivers 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.6 seconds with a fuel consumption of 6.1L/100km.
The X50 SE also offers a connected driving experience through its 14.6-inch Infotainment Head Unit, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, PROTON Link 2.0, and ‘Hi PROTON’ Voice Command in both Bahasa Melayu and English.
Safety remains paramount, with the X50 SE equipped with 15 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features. These include Auto Park Assist (APA), a 360° HD Camera with 180° Transparent View, and other intelligent safety functions designed to provide greater confidence on the road.
