Genting Malaysia Berhad (“GENM”) and Alibaba Cloud (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“Alibaba Cloud”) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digital transformation across GENM’s business operations.
The MoU was signed at Alibaba Group Headquarters in Hangzhou, China. GENM was represented by Dato’ Indera Lim Keong Hui, Deputy Chief Executive & Executive Director of Genting Malaysia, and witnessed by Tan Yi-Sheng, Executive Vice President of Strategy, Transformation, Analytics and Results at Resorts World Genting. Alibaba Cloud was represented by Larry Meng, Chief Financial Officer of the International Business Unit at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, and witnessed by Choong Hon Keat, General Manager of Malaysia at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

The agreement builds on the existing relationship between GENM and Alibaba Cloud, following their prior collaboration at Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, where AI and cloud technology were explored to enhance the guest experience. The new MoU provides a broader framework for both parties to explore further opportunities across GENM’s business operations.
Under the MoU, both parties will examine potential applications of Alibaba Cloud’s AI and cloud technologies across GENM’s diverse operations, including opportunities that may support employee productivity, operational efficiency, and guest experience enhancement.
“As a business with diverse operations, we see opportunities to evaluate how AI and cloud technologies can help our teams work more effectively and enhance the experiences we offer our guests,” said Dato’ Indera Lim Keong Hui, Deputy Chief Executive & Executive Director of Genting Malaysia. “This MoU allows us to take a structured approach to identifying relevant use cases, testing their suitability, and assessing their value before considering wider adoption. We look forward to building on our existing relationship with Alibaba Cloud as we advance our digital capabilities.”
“Genting SkyWorlds demonstrated how AI and cloud technology can be applied to a practical operational challenge while enhancing the guest experience,” said Choong Hon Keat, General Manager of Malaysia at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “Building on this collaboration, we look forward to working with Genting Malaysia to identify further opportunities across its business functions. By combining our AI and cloud capabilities with GENM’s understanding of its operational needs, we aim to assess applications that can deliver measurable value for its teams and customers.”
Both parties will focus on understanding where technology can bring practical value to GENM’s operations and support its longer-term digital development. With a shared goal of exploring the potential of AI and cloud technology, the two companies will continue to identify areas where these capabilities can add value to GENM’s operations and the experiences it delivers to customers.
