Malaysia has officially opened its largest architecture and building exhibition, alongside the ASEAN Real Estate Conference (AREC) 2026, in a move that underscores the nation’s role as a strategic gateway for regional property and infrastructure development.

The dual events were jointly launched today by the Minister of Housing and Local Government, YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). Running from 29 July to 1 August, the platforms bring together over 860 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions across more than 39,000 square metres of exhibition space – a 6% increase from 2025.

With an estimated RM1.4 billion in business transactions expected and roughly 40,000 trade visitors from more than 100 countries, ARCHIDEX 2026 marks its 25th edition as a key fixture in Asia’s architectural calendar.

The event is jointly organised by the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) and C.I.S, forming part of the broader Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF). Running alongside it, AREC 2026 – organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) – serves as a dedicated policy-to-market forum where government leaders, developers, and investors align on housing, urban development, and sustainable city strategies across the region.
“While the government sets policy directions, achieving our vision of Housing with Heart requires collaboration across sectors,” said Minister Nga Kor Ming in his opening address. “Our strategic location, strong connectivity, competitive business ecosystem, stable economic fundamentals, and skilled workforce continue to attract investors. ARCHIDEX showcases these strengths by bringing together industry leaders from across Asia and beyond to collaborate, innovate, and invest.”
Beyond the trade floor, ARCHIDEX offers a robust knowledge programme featuring more than 100 sessions with over 170 local and international speakers. Highlights include:
- DATUM 2026 – PAM’s flagship architectural conference, held under the theme “Future Culture,” tackling climate resilience, digital transformation, and material innovation.
- World of Works (WoW) – Curated by Thinkscape Design Group, exploring the future of workplace design.
- A Hospitality Anthology (AHA) – A new debut platform focused on hospitality trends, curated by Blu Water Studio.
- Digital @ ARCHIDEX – In partnership with Messe Frankfurt, spotlighting BIM, AI, and smart building technologies.
New initiatives also include the ARCHIDEX Star Awards for product innovation and ARCHITALENT, a platform connecting emerging designers with established professionals.

Off-site, the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Week (KLAW) extends the festival into public spaces around the River of Life and downtown KL, featuring installations by local architects and artists. The initiative supports Kuala Lumpur’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Design and aligns with Visit Malaysia 2026 tourism goals.
“What stands out is not just how much ARCHIDEX has grown, but what the growth truly represents,” said Dato’ Vincent Lim, President of C.I.S. “These milestones reflect the confidence that local and international businesses continue to place in Malaysia as a destination for trade, investment, and collaboration.”
PAM President Ar. IDr Dexter Koh added: “Together, ARCHIDEX, AREC and DATUM form a complete ecosystem: ARCHIDEX connects ideas with industry; AREC connects development with national aspirations; and DATUM connects the profession with critical dialogue.”
